Today on Father's Day, as Nepal faces the painful aftermath of recent floods in Rasuwa, I find myself turning back to the pages of my father Dharma Ratna Yami’s book, Reply from Tibet. Lhasa Bolchhe, Sandeya Lisaa and Chinese translated version.
The recent disaster in Rasuwa brought his written accounts vividly back to life. Reading his firsthand accounts of Himalayan hazards, treacherous river crossings, and mountain survival written decades ago reminds me that his work was never just travel literature or history—it was an early, essential lesson in resilience, observation, and disaster awareness.
He taught us that natural disasters are not mere fate; they are recurring features of our mountain landscape that require preparation, unity, and deep local understanding.
Today, I remember my father not only with profound love, but with immense gratitude for the wisdom, courage, and scientific foresight he gifted to future generations. His memory continues to inspire our push for community resilience, early warning, STEAM education, and honoring our mountain history.
